Excellent quality leather. I'm surprised at how people interpret what vinyl is. How do you think the skin turns red if it is not treated and colored? The straps are very strong and show no signs of stretching even under heavy loads. The interior is nicely lined and has several pen compartments, space for a wallet, cell phone and business cards. There are 2 zipped compartments, a large one in the middle and an additional one on the side. The only real downside is that the included soft case is designed for a 15.1" laptop and most laptops currently sold are 15.6" and no, it won't fit. But packing the laptop alone also works, just remember to protect the surface of your laptop from the zippered side pocket and you're spot on.
