My 11 year old grandson specifically asked for a microscope last Christmas. I decided to wait a few months to write a review to see if it would not only hold up but be interesting and we weren't disappointed. Peyton likes to experiment at home, this microscope is equipped with illumination and a magnification of up to 400x. It's not as powerful as a biological school microscope, but it's not as expensive either. He is as good as bought on the day and is still of interest to him and his friends. It was definitely a good investment and a great gift from Santa.
