I winter with deer mice I found at my house. In warm weather I leave them outside. I put this house in her cage along with soft bedding. They love it. They sleep in it all day, huddled in a ball, and go outside at night. I was considering whether to take a two-room apartment or a three-room apartment and I'm glad I got a three-room apartment. First, two of the rooms have openings through which they can enter and exit. While it's great, they chose a room without a hole to spend the whole day in. They love darkness and comfort. So if I had a two-room apartment, I think there would be holes in both rooms. When I catch mice in my house (in a humane heart trap) I also put them in the cage so the extra space is good. This box is sturdy and beautifully made, like everything I've ordered from the Night Angel brand. This box is high quality and much better than the boxes I have used. When I first put a mouse in a cage, it freaks out and looks for a way out. When a mouse discovers this box, it enters it, calms down, and spends its daytime sleep inside. Intuitively they know this is their home.
