I do a lot of DIY projects and also bought a heat press a few months ago. I had a small cutting mat but I needed something bigger. This rug is huge and very heavy. This size is perfect for any project, big or small. This mat is much thicker than other mats I have and it will securely cling to any surface it rests on. It also comes with a craft knife and a few extra spare blades. It arrived rolled up and didn't lay flat so I held it under a lot of weight for a few days and then it was ready to use. Now I just hold it flat even when not in use to keep it in shape. I like thick material. I wasn't sure how the self heal feature works but I've been using this mat for a few weeks now and use a craft knife to develop my projects. Even after repeated use, I don't see any cuts from the knife, so the self-healing feature is really working. This is a durable cutting mat that can be used for any craft and will last for years.
