This is an AMAZING FAN! 16 inch or larger fans were too loud and uncomfortable for us at high speeds. This 14 inch Ken Brown fan is the perfect size, strong, well built, moves lots of air and is much quieter than larger fans at high to medium speeds! APPEARANCE: You can get an idea of the size of the fan. pictured where he is sitting on a chair. In addition, the black blends into the background in contrast to the bright silver fans (see photo). With the first fan I had a problem out of the box. Unfortunately, Revain just ran out of this model. As there were no other 14" fans of this quality available I did NOT return them to Revain but called Ken Brown service. After explaining the problem they assured me of the warranty and sent me a new fan as soon as they were back in stock Now for the details this fan has pretty much everything I was looking for most importantly it has a brushless ball bearing motor that will last for years we have a fan of a similar design that has lasted over 20 years If "When that Ken Brown fan comes on it sounds a bit like the roar of the industrial engines we have at work. It still has some of that whine at low speed but it doesn't at higher speeds. The second fan was at low revs quieter than the first but still whimpered a bit.For some this might be an issue but I wanted this type of motor to last.For me the w more important than anything else. Both fans were quieter than most at higher speeds. CLEANING: There are four thumb tabs that fold out and allow for easy grate removal (see images). A flathead screwdriver may be needed to pry the tabs up the first few times. Then only one Phillips screw needs to be removed to completely remove the grille. (There is a nut behind the screw so be careful not to lose it). ADVANTAGES 1) BALL BEARINGS - for durability 2) Brushless motor - for durability 3) Metal (no plastic that breaks easily) 4) Grill easily removes to clean the blades. (See photo) 5) GREAT SERVICE!
