Review on ๐ŸŒ€ Enhance Valve Index Longevity with 3D Printed Radiator Fan - Optimal Cooling Solution for VR Games Headset (USB Included) by Jeff Strutz

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I really want to like this item, but I just can't recommend it.

Good details first. The fans on this thing are pretty powerful, and the item design that completely covers the front of the headset is a good choice. Cooling is impressive, and the dial, which can be turned from zero to maximum with a rheostat, is a really nice touch. The two magnets on the bottom half of the element fit snugly into two points where they snap into place. That's all I can do. I would say it's very friendly. Cons: - The price tag. It goes without saying, but if I want to spend 1/10th of the money I spent on my entire VR kit on an accessory, it has to be a damn good premium accessory. This thing seems to need about two or three more iterations before it's considered "final" in any functional form. I don't mind that this is 3D printed, but overall it feels very, very raw. - The absolute absence of the other two magnets in the top half of the article. I don't think it would be difficult to remove the heatsink here, if only with a little extra holding power for a better seal. In that regard, a bit of foam to seal the edges of the kit would have gone a long way. Due to the 3D printing, and I can only assume it's a crude design that hasn't been overly refined, the small clip held on the 'front' of the headset is particularly fragile. , and for me it broke as soon as I installed it, making it pretty bad to use this thing for anything other than a very basic game. I really like this fan kit. He works fantastic for what he is. But I just can't. For $100 I expect something fair. more complete than that. If it was going to cost around $40-50 or so I would do whatever it takes to fix the little bugs and modify it to better suit my preferences. But I spent 100โ‚ฌ for it. If I need to fix something to make it work as expected, it shouldn't cost that much. For creators, what you have is a good idea. I really like how this kit can be. But it takes work. Better sealing, less brittle clips, and a more affordable price make this a must-have accessory for the Index. However, in the current version I just can't justify keeping mine as the mount is broken and only two magnets are otherwise holding it. I will return it and just wait for the best version index fan kit.
