This is the most expensive rice cooker I have ever bought (there is a Zojirushi in the family that I used to use every day at some point) and honestly it is the worst rice cooker I have ever used. Cooking rice takes about twice as long as a less sophisticated rice cooker, the rice tends to dry out on the 'keep warm' setting and this is most annoying. This rice cooker doesn't have those condensate drains in the back if you really need it. Every time I cook rice in this thing (usually 2 or 3 cups) and lift the lid, all the steam water on the lid just drains off the back and pools in the area behind the pot (I'll add a picture later) . The collected water has nowhere to go and I have to wipe it off with a towel every time. This is a truly unacceptable design issue for something so expensive. I mean I can explain why rice doesn't stay warm well because it can be difficult to evenly heat the rice once it's cooked. But the lack of a steam trap appears to be just a lack of common sense or beta testing of the product and seems unforgivable. I would return this item but I can't justify paying 1/5 the item price for it. I'll live with it for now, but it's going to be one of my daily essentials that I'm hoping to break sooner rather than later so I can just get a cheaper flavor or zojirushi to stock. Because any of those damn $15 oysters would probably be better than these.
