I really liked this shoe for my 4.5 year old. He has weak ankles and by the way he walks and runs in them we can tell these are good supportive shoes. I'm guessing that it's a closed toe shoe so it doesn't scratch your toes when you fall like open toe shoes do. This shoe copes very well with both wet and dry shoes. It can be worn in the pool or sprinkler and my son can walk in it as soon as he is comfortable in the shoes. The sole is not slippery. Bright colors are fun. Shoes dry quickly. The only negative comment I have is that there are three holes on the side of the boot which I understand is necessary. However, when my son puts his shoes on, he asks for help because his pinky finger often slips out of the middle hole. It doesn't happen when putting the boot on, only when he puts his foot in the boot for the first time. Bot in general, love the shoes! Ideal for a summery mix of wet and dry activities.
