Before I go into the details, keep a few things in mind: 1.) Forget XMP, it will all be a manual setup way. Maybe even on the Intel platform. 2.) If you just want to play games or run another application that requires fast memory with minimal fuss, this kit is not for you. 3.) If you have a Ryzen platform, you probably won't get more than 3800 MT/s of usable performance out of this kit. even if you have a gold chip. You will need luck with your motherboard. 6.) You have to spend hours and hours tweaking and testing to get something usable. If that's not your idea of entertainment, this set isn't for you. If none of this bothers you and you are still interested in this set, read on. The set comes in a fairly simple packaging. Some people don't like it, but I say the simpler the packaging, the easier it is to recycle, so I'm good at that. I want my money to go towards R&D, high quality B die chips and quality control. Not for marketing or packaging. Another complaint I've heard about this kit is that the heat spreader is pretty cheap. It's a fact. However, fancy heatsinks are a form of cheating. Even at high voltage and clock speeds, you're not using more than 5 watts of power per stick, so it doesn't matter. I'd rather have no heatsink, same B-Create, same PCB quality, and $1 less product price. However, these sticks are a bit high. Keep this in mind if there might be a gap issue between your RAM and the tower cooler. If I wanted two sets of these, that would be a problem for me. But since I only need one and the slot closest to the CPU isn't occupied, I don't have any gap issues. I've been trying for hours to get it to run at 3800 MT/s to no avail. It's either the IMC in my R5 3600XT or my motherboard (MSI B450 Pro Carbon WiFi) and not the kit's fault. I had no issues at 3733 MT/s and got timings that were even better than Ryzen's DRAM calculator suggested. I used "fast" settings, "A3/A2/B1" for the PCB version, and (of course) "Samsung B-Die" for the memory type. Terminators didn't work for me, I chose the default board values for them. You passed my quick test and I'm already halfway charging MemTest86 as I write this review. I'm very, very comfortable with the looser settings and they give me everything I want. for hours and hours more fun, tightening the secondary and tertiary timings to not leave a single performance loop on the floor. If I get bored I might be forced to play instead of bench pressing the largest possible B die memory bin and I'm perfectly happy with that. You can buy more expensive kits if you use the "G.Skill" name want printed on the side, and more expensive kits if you want plus RGB. As for me, nothing else matters to me other than the quality of the bean and the quality time on my bench. I think I saved between $50-$100 by choosing this one versus the best TridentZ RGB basket while sacrificing exactly zero performance. This is my down payment for the shiny new R5 5600X as soon as I get my hands on it with sweat. If you're still considering buying them, I have some quick tips to help you save time. :1.) Prepare a bootable USB stick with MemTest86 before the package is delivered. 2.) Use the same drive to save OC profiles if your cellphone doesn't save your profiles after clearing CMOS3.) Schedule testing outside of your case if you don't have a clear CMOS button on the back. 4.) For the first test, reduce the address range to 4G and skip the last two tests and do two passes instead of four. This saves you a lot of time. 5.) Once you have the settings you want, run all the tests, full address range, overnight before using 24/7 voltage if you like. It does no harm and saves you time. 7.) Enjoy your ride. If that's not fun, just buy the $80 3600 CL16 kit, load it in XMP and you're done. I hope this helps and thanks for reading.
