Review on 🚲 Topeak MTX Trunk Bag DXP - Enhanced Bicycle Trunk Bag with Sturdy Molded Panels by Steven Brouillard

Easy to put on and take off, maybe too easy

I bought this bag to have a bag for multiple bikes. I'm not a fan of weight, but this setup is definitely heavier than the Trek bag and Jaand rack I had. This setting was a pain to toggle on and off. It's a no-brainer. However, I'm buying my second bag right now since the first one shows up. You must be careful to put the bag in place. I didn't even do it and the bag jumped out of my driveway. This time the bag was secured as best as possible as it was on my bike when the bike was flipped. The bag fits snugly in my tool bag under the seat. One day after reaching my friend's house 3 miles away, the bag disappeared. Quick return and it really isn't. There is a very uneven, steep hill on the trail that was also heavily trafficked a few yards to my left on this ride. I suspect the tool bag was putting so much pressure on the Topeak quick release mechanism that it slipped off, and I didn't hear it over the noise of the machine. As I have had several bikes with racks for this bag I had to look for another. However, I plan to add a secure connection so that it is not easily lost. Maybe the velcro from the front ring of the bag will stay or stay around my seat tube.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
