Review on 🌳 Valterra 200 C20 Swing Spring Combo by Darnell Murphy

Use this with a 2500 GPH pump and found about a 40% flow reduction due to the fact that the Spring just shut up. partially open. It seems like the spring tension could be reduced a bit while still being effective. Eventually I grabbed the spring with needle nose pliers and twisted it hoping it would flex to release the tension, but the metal snapped at the neck leaving the spring still trapped in the hub. Then I got out some dental tools and a screwdriver and was finally able to pry the tab behind the flap and get it out of the way. I now rely on gravity to keep the damper closed, which works well and opens the damper almost fully, resulting in a 40% increase in flow compared to a spring. I still prefer Spears check valves because they have a larger spool and bore, even though they cost about 50% more and are opaque. Not sure how the flows compare, maybe just a noticeable difference closer to pipe size limits. Next time I will order without spring.
