This is our second Ripstick - the first my child lost over a year ago. He forgot the lost one, but I didn't, and I got him a new one for Christmas. He trembled at first when he tried to use it again and I wondered if he would regain interest. Then, on a rainy, cold day, he realized he could use it to go around the house, circling the downstairs rooms. We have parquet floors so it's doable. I've looked at the floors and haven't noticed any wear yet, but of course if I see scratches or signs of wear I have to put a stop to it. I think it would be better for a home with luxury vinyl planks or ceramic floors. It steadily improved, only occasionally stumbling on transitions or losing balance when turning, making a loud thump and a falling sound. He'll drive past me cautiously in the afternoons after school and sometimes even look at his phone while I'm typing on the keyboard in my office (I'll tell him to stop). Sometimes he drives by and just talks a bit as he goes in and out.
