Review on ScorpionEXO EXO R420 Helmet Matte Black by Christopher Tillman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Hands down the cheapest SNELL rated helmet I've come across and decent quality

First helmet for me in years (last time I got a helmet they only sold open face helmets - and they sparkled). I wanted a full face helmet because when my face gets damaged in a fall it hurts. This helmet has decent ventilation (although I ran with my visor open). The visor seals well enough when you close it. There are those emergency replacement cheek pads - I think they come in handy after an accident. The helmet had great reviews everywhere I looked. It's DOT and SNELL rated (I think most stones are DOT rated, but SNELL is a worthy step up). Got a flat black and been driving in the sun in 93+ degrees - brains haven't cooked yet. I'm XXL - if like me you're in between sizes, go up. People told me "smaller, they break" but I couldn't get the XL to actually fit over my head. It's fairly comfortable - a bit of pressure on the forehead (I think I have a semi-oval head) - but not so much that it's annoying or causes a headache. Doesn't narrow my view at all. An Arai helmet might have been a bit more comfortable but I decided to take all the hundreds I had and use them to protect my back, shoulders and elbows (for now. Just put some individual helmets together and then duct tape to keep them together). same god as T2, but.). If you're a "quirky" racer, you can get this helmet with tons of cool graphics. I went with flat black. I'm not crazy.

Pros
  • All new advanced polycarbonate shell is more aerodynamic and smaller resulting in a super lightweight SNELL approved helmet.
Cons
  • No
