They weren't quite like the filters they were meant to replace (the old ones were more like thick foam while these looked), but there are pros and cons to them in comparison. The pros are pretty good - they seem to filter sediment BETTER than the stock filters. In fact, there is some visible debris from the tanks they attach that they somehow bypass the old filters on, but there is no evidence that they can get past them. The downside is that the filtered water tasted a bit strange at first. This lasted for several days with light use. But the difference in taste wasn't big enough to bother me that much and it faded with use. This is the only reason for deducting a star - quite a bit of water had to be passed through the filter to improve the taste.
