My new favorite kitchen tool. I've had slicers under $100 and found them extremely frustrating and useless. This machine works in the same way as slicers. I love it when the meat is cut very thin. Works great and saves me a lot of money. Some reviewers have complained about the cleaning of this machine. Yes, it takes time, but you wouldn't take it upon yourself to cut meat for today's sandwich. You use this machine to cut several pounds of meat at once. When you're done, take off the three pieces and wash them in the sink. Then you wipe down the rest of the car and put it back together. My only minor issue is that the meat sometimes gets stuck in the blade and shoots out the other side. I put a plastic trash bag behind it to keep the pieces from flying around the room. Last time I used it it threw ham on every other slice. Then I started grabbing (not catching) each slice from behind as it came out, and it almost never happened. This is more of a user issue than a design flaw. The best thing about this meat grinder is that I can slice the meat before slicing. I don't like the crust on ham so I cut it off first. I also tear apart the roast beef and trim off as much fat as I can find. This is a high performance machine. At first I thought it might be overkill just for me and my wife. However, I'm very happy that after about three months of using it about every two weeks I spent a little more because now I'm actually using my grinder and I'm saving money. I rarely used my old ones because they were too painful and I was never able to slice the meat as thinly as I would have liked. This thing is built to last and it runs so smoothly. I love it.
