The handle that presses the meat with the indentation of the burger filling is very difficult to remove from the nozzle that completes the press. This is almost impossible with greasy hamburger hands. It also takes extra effort to level the press to insert a hole in the center of the patty. However, I have stopped filling hamburgers because giving them back is a gimmick with little reward for the effort. Simply top the burger with the pepper and bacon jam when it's ready. If you're not careful, the pie may become unevenly thick when you press on it. The meat can be easily removed from the ring after pressing, paper is not needed. I've found that pre-weighing the meat gives the best results. It barely fits 8 ounces of meat, but it can make those mondo burgers if you want. I need a mechanical press that will make chops of this diameter. But I do not regret the purchase and use it often.
