We used to have air filters, but with mixed success. They really sounded like they were working and definitely had air coming out of them. With a gradual drop in temperature, as the filters seemed surprisingly easy to absorb the amalgam of beagle and dusty rabbit hair left behind after sweeping every five days. Bulky, heavy machines that required a filter change within 90 days, only three airflow settings and you never knew how well the air was filtered. It wasn't a difficult decision when we finally kicked her to the curb. Not even 12 months have passed. Our daughter was later diagnosed with a house dust mite allergy. To be fair, we picked up our Colzer on a desperate "buy EVERYTHING” Revain shopping spree along with bedding and nasal rinses. I was initially skeptical because it was a lot smaller than the last air filters we had and could run lighter and much quieter. where they were easy to sweep. Sure, the number pad looked like it would work, but those numbers didn't say much, did they? And then one evening my husband walked in to talk about the dirty garage project and was standing a meter from the car. We were surprised to learn that the panel could go from blue to yellow and all the way to red when displaying 500 seconds. It took several hours at altitude to rid our living area of its do-it-yourself infestation, but eventually the numbers went back to single digits, the panel went back to code green, and the air quality in our living room was fine again. The husband was relegated to the garage for the remainder of the project. That same night we bought a second Colzer unit for our basement playroom. It was the last Thanksgiving. Now it's Halloween, the first device only warned us once to change the filter, and the basement device is still running successfully with its first filter.
