This cooler shaped refrigerator can either plug into a car cigarette lighter or a standard US pronged plug outlet. There is also supposed to be a compatible battery that can be ordered separately, but we haven't yet found one available for order.The unit cools down within minutes. There are two compartments inside, a larger one for refrigerated items and a smaller one for frozen items. A small plastic cutting board is included and snaps into the lid over the freezer. The whole thing is about the size and shape of a large cooler. Dimensions are approximately 24" x 16" and 18" tall. It's on the heavy side, even empty, so I am surprised that it doesn't have wheels.My family has been considering getting a mini fridge for long car rides for years, but the cost of the units we looked at seemed prohibitive. At nearly $400, this one isn't cheap, but it is more affordable than the similar models that retail for $1000!One thing that I really like about this fridge is that is runs very quietly. I was concerned that it might be a noisy distraction while driving, but it is nearly silent.Recommended!
