My original Porter Cable baseplate finally fell apart after 14 years. These Lake County skid plates are a favorite among detailers, so I gave it a try. Immediately after installing it on my buffer, I saw that it was defective. When I turned the disc by hand, it had about 1/8 inch of runout. My suspicions were correct when I put the overlay on and tried to polish it. Because the base plate was bent and not balanced, the buffer shook a lot during operation. I returned this baking plate and bought the original replacement porter cable.
