I had an oversized chair I bought at one of the stationery stores (St*****) about a year ago for a great price and although it worked great with my desk the footstool slipped again and again No matter how hard I turn the adjustment knob. Over time the inner lining of the center ring began to fall apart and I tried many different ways to solve the slippage problem but I couldn't. I finally got it a few days ago, was looking for something to replace the ring and found it here. I learned a lot about how these chairs are made and it was pretty easy to swap out the ring. Received it last night and turned it on straight away and it works as described. I also put a 2" PVC spigot over the top of the chair leg so the ring sits on top and doesn't constantly slide off which seems to be a fairly common problem with these chairs. I'm pretty glad I didn't have to throw the chair away and buy something much more expensive. I've won this round for now, hope the rest of the chair holds up for a while. A proud handyman who grew up fixing things and not throwing them away if you can help.
