I previously used a conventional brush, converted to an electric one made by a different company, briefly went back to using a regular brush, and then purchased this one about a year and a half ago. I wanted it with Sonicare and I was right to want it; I personally prefer it over other toothbrushes and I soon got used to it (even if I had previously used an electric brush). It was itchy at first, but I eventually grew accustomed to it. I started using this brush twice a day after alternating with a conventional brush. Even while it seems to clean quite effectively, there is already a sense that something is off if you switch back to a standard brush:) When using a regular brush, the gums would bleed. With this blood, there is absolutely no bleeding, and it appears to clean more thoroughly. Since the case is made entirely of plastic, I initially worried that there wouldn't be any rubberized components, yet everything is quite comfy and does not slip from your hands. The brush comes equipped by default with a timer that shuts off after 2 minutes of operation. Additionally, there is a very useful quadpacer function that vibrates every 30 seconds to alert the user to move on to the next zone of brushing (upper and lower teeth from the inside and outside for 30 seconds). The total interchangeability of cleaning heads, or the ability to purchase any (although they are not cheap, like consumables, but they are available in any store), is one of the major benefits of Philips brushes (and this one in particular). I alter them around four months less frequently than recommended by the guidelines. It is charged on a unique, water-resistant pedestal. I didn't notice it explicitly, but the brush retains its charge for a long time and can tolerate daily brushing for a few weeks. When the battery is nearly empty at the conclusion of brushing, the LED vibrates and flashes so you can quickly recharge it before the next brushing. I used to bring a regular brush with me on travels, but I started bringing this one instead. It is heavier, but I became too accustomed to it. Since this is still a low-cost model, you can overlook the little lack of an appropriate cover or case for transportation.
