What can I say? This phone works and works well. The anchor part of the machine works well. No need to add your own message, you can do the same as us and use the default message that's already on the phone. It has a mode where you can put it to sleep so it won't ring until you program it, or you can just turn off the ringer. If you have caller ID through your carrier, these phones will tell you who is calling and when they called. Caller ID is required for this phone's most important feature, "number blocking", to work. This is the second we have bought in the last 7 months and we bought it primarily to block the number. They do it very, very well. We have number blocking by our service provider but they only allow blocking of 10 numbers. Needless to say, we used them pretty quickly. So we bought our first such phone in December last year. These phones allow you to block up to 30 numbers. Now we've used them up. This means that counting out of 10 provided by our service provider, we blocked 40 numbers for seedy quasi-charities and sleazy debt collectors (we have no debt). Three days ago I bought our second Panasonic phone to block numbers. He arrived yesterday. Last night I programmed in 2 more numbers from the sneaky thugs. Now we block 42 different numbers. I'm sure not all of them are, but as long as they make these phones, peace and freedom from greasy scumbags in our house is the order of the day.
