I am an independent filmmaker and have many devices that require batteries. My audio equipment in particular consumes AA all day long. The sound recorder uses 8 AA internally and each wireless transmitter and receiver uses 4. So 8 for the recorder and 16 for 4 wireless systems. Even with 2800mAh batteries, they won't last a full day of shooting, so it's best to swap them out in the middle of the day or so. (Lunch) This charger gets the juice back into the batteries faster than any other charger I've seen. In fact, I produced a feature film and hired an audio engineer. The poor guy kept going to his 4 battery charger to check if his batteries were charged. Seeing him panic, I asked him if he needed help. He worried about running out of batteries for his wireless devices. I accidentally had a charger and I took it out. I put the batteries in and they charged in less than 30 minutes. He was amazed. Couldn't believe how fast this thing was. Of course he took the name and I'm sure he bought it the next day. Pros: FAST charger (there aren't many others that charge that fast. Some say fast, but it takes 2-3 hours. This kid is fast) 8 compartments (the ability to charge 8 batteries at once is very useful) Individual compartments (You don't need to charge 2 batteries at the same time like some older chargers require) Soft charging (soft charge function allows you to recover completely discharged batteries and bring them back to life) Detachable power cord. (I see some chargers that don't have the ability to unplug the power cords. It's harder to store that way.) Cons: Dim LCD, no backlight, and hard to see from certain angles. A significantly better display would be desirable. Not a fan of the seductive nature of the design. It would be better to have something square which is easier to store and fold. Price (Can't complain too much as I'm sure the electronics are more expensive to charge fast. And worth the money for the speed.) The pros completely outweigh the cons. This is a very good charger and I highly recommend it. I bought it so long ago I couldn't even see it in my order history so I couldn't be a verified buyer but it still works fine all these years. I don't use it all the time, only when I'm shooting a movie. In fact, I'm replenishing my supply of AA batteries. I'm buying a (24) AA 2800mha from Soxono and have thought about buying another one so I can charge 16 at a time but the truth is it charges fast enough that it isn't necessary. Also, I will have about 48 batteries total. I can charge them all night before and can probably go all day without charging. I hope this helped someone who decides to buy this expensive but powerful charger. If you need speed, it's worth it.
