This is how I sewed a baby blanket for many years whenever a new baby appeared in the family. I do fairly simple projects, but I always try to tell a story. I always cut measuring guides out of cardboard and cut them out with scissors. As you can imagine, this took a lot of time. I saw one of these cutting systems at a fabric store but the price was higher there. I recently ordered from Amazon, we live in the middle of a national forest and the nearest stoplight is 70 miles away. So shopping is a day trip. Anyway I thought it could really help me and the price on Amazon was way better. I was willing to take a risk, I ordered it and made a blanket for my new amazing baby who will be born in May. The design I used required very precise cut outs, I expected to take a month to make the upper let alone assemble it. From start to finish it took me 5 days, about 25 hours. Being self-taught I think others could do it faster but I was very pleased with the quality I was able to get with my more precise cuts. It also gave my back a lot of relief as I didn't spend many hours on the stairs carving. Then I wanted to put it in a box under the bed but my husband accidentally threw it all in the landfill, I liked it so much I ordered it again. So it really did cost me twice as much.
