Review on Efficient Charging Station For Xbox One Controllers With 2 Rechargeable Batteries by Maurice Malek

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great, charges easily, both batteries and all pieces working well.

I’ve never tried a charging station for controllers like this, I always just used the annoying cable that comes out of the xbox one and dangles everywhere, and then the one time you need to unplug it from the back means you are forever now plugging it into the front port leading to inevitably not plugging it back into the rear of the xbox because pulling it out from the entertainment console is hard with how short the wires to the TV are and that annoying shelf it sits on is held up with four little pins so if you pull the xbox too far the shelf drops out, and now it’s a whole thing, you know what I’m saying? So, I went for the gusto and tried out this xbox charger set. It arrived in simple packaging, nothing fancy, box was pretty beat up. Opened it up, pretty straight forward. Base unit with power port, usb charging cable, and two battery packs. I think the most interesting thing are the batteries. Never having used one like this before, it was somewhat of a surprise that you have to remove the entire original xbox battery (makes sense) and also not replace the cover on the controller (I didn’t know that part.) because that is what allows the batteries to charge when resting on the charging station. There are two metal contact points on the battery packs, and they rest easily into the charging station. I was happy to find that not only did they snap in easily and perfectly flush, but they created no discernible difference in the controller use, weight, or feel. I’m not a pro gamer or anything, and this was more to avoid the aforementioned console shelf dilemma, or occam’s controller nook, as it’s known in the field. The charging station itself is made of plastic, and reasonably well made. Not "colicky” and cracking plastic seems when you handle it or squeeze it during set up. It’s pretty slim, and very low profile. I appreciated that there was a charging light indicator on the front of the unit to let me know what operation was taking place, glowing red or green for indication. Since opening this unit, I’ve charged two controllers multiple times and have had no issue and no noticeable battery difference as of yet although I know typically OEM batteries have a shorter charge life, I’m hoping that is not the case here but time will tell. FOr now they are fresh, I just can’t speak to their refill rate over time. They might start dropping operational time faster and faster at 200 charges, or they might just last a crazy long time. If I notice anything definitive, I will update this review. My final review of this piece is it is an inexpensive, mass produced charging station for xbox one controllers housing two controllers (sold separately) and giving you two new rechargeable batteries at a decent price. I would recommend this product.
