OVERVIEW I bought this for a homemade spot welder that I am making to prevent accidental use of the machine. That's exactly what it says: a SPST toggle switch that requires a key to operate. Yes, I checked that the key is really needed - a flat screwdriver does not turn it. The operation is better than I expected - it turns very smoothly with either key, and when it crosses the threshold between ON and OFF it has a nice audible click and a firm spring action as it snaps into place. It feels so good that I've used it as a distracting toy while waiting for the other parts to arrive. As a switch it works perfectly - it doesn't pass any current when it's off and has no discernible internal resistance when it's on. (It may sound trivial, but I had to return switches that couldn't handle the simple task of turning it on or off!) It has a standard threaded barrel and support nut installation that makes it easy to install securely. into any faceplate up to 7mm/quarter inch thick. Standard pin terminals with small holes in them like any other toggle switch of this size. I'm really looking forward to the 'cool factor' (and actual safety benefit) this will bring to my welder. I may buy a few more to have on hand for future projects. CAUTION As I said, my intended use is security, not security. I doubt this lock will be easy to pick or pick. If you're hoping to prevent such things, you can look elsewhere. I would like to buy a couple of these with the same keys. It would be nice to have one master key for all my projects protected by a padlock instead of one for each. The only thing I would change if I could is prevent the key from being removed when the switch is in the ON position. job title.
