Review on Garmin Mount Quick Release Quarter by Mark Hamblin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

These are the only mounts available for the Varia and its main unit

Pros: Mount that attaches, rotates and is solid. Cons: Difficult to attach the mount to the bike anywhere/anyhow. The rubber bands did the job, but the rubber rots and gives way. Losing your $300 equipment investment due to a rubber band failure is not good. My job is to attach the strap to the Varia and the head unit. So 2 mounts have to fail before I lose anything. I lost an expensive NiteRider unit due to a bad mount. No loss since I used the straps. I hope Garmin provides a way to use zip ties with these mounts. The zip ties get brittle, but it takes years and you have to really stress them for them to break.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
