I ordered size 9-10. The shorts measure approximately 14.5 inches from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the hem. The fabric is amazingly thick. It's actually thicker than I would have preferred shorts as the idea behind shorts is to keep you cool. At least they will be really strong. They wash well without special treatment and do not roll. I have 2 complaints. The first is that the laces are really, really short. Knots at the ends of the laces almost to the waist. For starters, so unless you pull them very tight, you won't have enough open rope to tie and secure. Second, the pockets are really shallow, only 3.5 inches deep.
