I have 2 pairs from the Spectator range. 12x is only great for looking at the sky. I decided to try 8x for a more compact version. In general they are fine, the image is good but the exit pupil distance is a bit tricky. Also, the eyecups are deep and hard. At least it matches my eyes. (They open wide enough). I feel like my lashes are always curled up in the cups. Very annoying to use. The eyepiece lenses are too small for this design in my opinion. 8 are immovably fixed. Everything within about 50 +/- yards will be blurry. Not suitable for close-up viewing of museum displays or many bird feeding applications. The manual says they are bk7 prisms only. Prisms are used. Download Bushnell's free manual and it also says bak4. The Spectator manual in the kit also says it is NOT windable and NOT waterproof. This is a total misrepresentation of the bait and switch. I was about to send it back but my wife liked the look, size, weight and lack of focusing issues (for her she denied the junk eyepiece) so I relented.
