I needed a WiFi adapter for an older laptop that only supported the 8022022G standard, and I looked everywhere for one. I purchased and installed firewood from the manufacturer's website (it is important to mention that I have several different versions of v.4) and it all functioned properly. When the connection to the whistle was lost on the very first day, a "cold" restart of the whistle was able to fix the problem. After ten minutes, the whistle suddenly dropped its connection once more, which prompted me to consider sending the item back. But the third instance of "dropping off" indicated why what occurred: the whistle came off while the laptop was operating on battery power and the user was troubleshooting a network of issues. It would appear that the whistle does not appreciate a port that has a low voltage. Therefore, if you have problems with this device when connected via an extension cable, try plugging it directly into the port and see what happens. Good luck.
