I am using my Dell Precision 5540 (15.6") laptop with a Dell U3417W (34", 3840 x 1440) monitor in a 2 display configuration and I have the old stand for Dell uses laptops that took up a lot of desktop space and couldn't elevate my laptop screen as high as I wanted. I bought this stand because of the impressive height adjustment and boy did I not disappoint. I could elevate my laptop screen about 12 inches higher than shown here if I wanted to. And this thing is rock hard. There are no locks, the set configuration is held in place by the simple friction of the hinges, and you have to make a significant effort to adjust them (in a pleasant, reassuring way, not in an annoying, over-the-top way). The build quality of this item far exceeds my expectations. I would give this item away for Christmas.
