I know I'm not a typical user, but due to the design of my house, my rack is in the front closet of my house. I have a separate access point in the middle of the house. My old Linksys WRT350N started to fail after many years (loaded with DD-WRT) so I started buying a gigabit router. It turns out that if you just want the router component and not the full functionality of a home wireless router/access point, you either have to pay for it or upgrade to a commercial component. I disabled all wireless functionality on this device and connected it to my 24-port switch in my rack. It looks weird on the shelf, but it works. Their software isn't bad, and I haven't spent much time with the device at the moment. The only downside I give to this product is that you need to wear gloves or be prepared to invest a lot of time when operating the device. Remove fingerprints. The plastic finish is glossy and very unforgiving if you move it or need to move it for initial setup. Remove this shell last when you're done.
