To be honest we were a bit skeptical when we first saw this. The network here is split into two parts: a smaller 10Gb network and a much wider 5Gb network that covers the rest of the office. We have several connectivity options of 2.5, 5 and 10 Gb and almost all of them do not match the price of this device. However, we connected it, and of course 2.5 GB. When you plug it in for the first time, it appears as a CD drive with a driver on it. Open the drive, it asks if you want to install, you say yes and the drive disappears almost immediately after you confirm. Then the adapter works. It might not even have installed as Windows 10 could have beat it to find a driver. It's difficult to say. However, it shows up as a 2.5GB adapter. In terms of performance, I can't say it can match your typical high-power adapter. The speed is a bit on the end, but at the same time nothing to complain about. You should get more than your money's worth, that's for sure. It doesn't seem to get very hot either. Some of our high power adapters can get very hot. so much so that they are sometimes built into an aluminum case that acts as a spacer. However, this model is a simple plastic adapter. Still, it doesn't feel too warm or hot. We'll be sure to update if we find anything else. But so far this seems like a great find. It's not something you'll find in OWC, but it's also part of the cost and performance. This will make 2.5 Gbps accessible to many more people (assuming their network supports it too).
