Review on Sound Town Microphone Bluetooth SWM15 PROS by Brad Jeffress

A little fiddly and works well - for home use only

Background: I bought this unit to replace an analog mixer setup that I will be running with a laptop setup. I needed something that would work with a SMART TV with ARC to minimize the wire count. That was it. It took a bit of fiddling, but I'll share all my troubleshooting tips. ARC Connection Issues - ARC HDMI not communicating with SWM-15. This issue relates to the ARC HDMI device on your SMART TV, not the SWM-15 ARC input. To fix this issue you need to reset the ARC HDMI device on your TV. I have a Samsung 58 6 series 4k. What I did was turn everything off and then unplug all devices. Leave without electricity for 15 minutes. This reset the ARC device on my TV. After connecting everything worked. problems with sound. Follow Sound Town's instructions to ensure your smart TV has HDMI-CEC enabled and the audio input is PCM. Make sure your smart TV is outputting audio from an HDMI source and not a TV or optical source. I solved the latency problem by playing around with this setting on my Smart TV. It worked. PROS: - Great for home use (see other thoughts) - Digital audio is no longer analog. However, if you don't have optics, you do have an AUX (analog audio) option - Minimal cables - you can add an additional 2 1/4' wired or/and wireless mics to have a total of 4 mics. - Comes with echo and sound CONS: - Mic is plastic and cheaply made (see other thoughts). - 5V power supply via Micro-USB, so I had to turn the volume up higher than expected (can cause distortion). - A microphone came with a partially fading LCD display. (See other thoughts) Other thoughts: - This device is intended for home use only. So the quality will suffer a bit compared to others. Microphones do their job at home karaoke, but you may find that after connecting a good microphone to the SWM-15, the sound is day and night. I sent the whole unit back due to a faded LCD on one of the mics, but I didn't because it took too long and it's still working. The disappearing mic looked like it was a throwback. Due to the 5V for the device you will need a powerful home AVR to power it. For the price of 100 euros, it does its job well. I will not go back to my little blender
