Difficult to choose between small and very small

I had a very difficult time choosing the right doggle size for my 8.5lb visually impaired Maltese. It's at the very end of the ultra-small range and also at the beginning of the small size range. The two dimensions overlap in the graph, making the decision difficult. Once I settled on a size, I read or saw something that convinced me a different size would be better. Small. She has an eye defect that prevents her pupil from constricting when the light changes. Knowing how painful it was to go out into the sunlight after taking eye drops to dilate the pupil at the optometrist's office, I winced every time I saw her eyes watering in the bright sun. When I received them I checked the sizes against the Doggles size chart. The measurements given in the table indicate that the frame size for the Extra Small is 3.5 inches. Because the frame is tapered from front to back, the front full frame is only 3.25 inches while the rear is 3.75 inches. I have included photos of my dog with and without Extra Small Doggles to better show my sizing process. I was lucky that the Extra Small fit her perfectly and she accepted them immediately. It's a pleasure to see her looking up and enjoying the sunny day.
