I would like to start this review with the most frustrating point that bothers many people who are looking for the perfect paper for them: paper weight. Most paper products are only weighed in pounds (lbs). This is particularly confusing because a weight in pounds must relate to a specific weight statement (e.g. cover, text, index, etc.), making it almost impossible for consumers to compare product weights. , especially if the product does not state what the weight measurement is. For example, 90 lb cover, 90 lb text, and 90 lb index indicate different paper weights or thicknesses. Many consumers are frustrated because they thought buying Β£110 (Index) would make them fatter than Β£90 (Cover): Wrong! In this case, the 90lb cover is actually thicker and heavier than the 110lb index. A more accurate measurement would be the European method using grams per square meter (g/m2; gsm). There is no weight measurement category with this method, so it is very convenient for consumers to directly compare the weight of the paper that indicates this type of measurement. Neenah Cardstock got it right by listing the paper weights in both pounds and gsm. This makes it very easy for us to do a direct comparison to the weight of another paper and get exactly what we intended or expected. The weight of this record is actually 110lbs or 199gsm as clearly stated on the cover. The second important question I would like to discuss is whether the paper contains acid and lignin. If you're an avid scrapbooker, hobbyist, or any job that involves preserving the longevity of a document or piece of art, these terms should be familiar to you. Therefore, acid and lignin are normally present in paper and these substances cause yellowing, brittleness and deterioration of the paper over time, a process accelerated by exposure to sunlight or light. Some manufacturers take extra steps to remove acid and lignin during the manufacturing process, and this usually means higher paper costs as well. There are also some products that can neutralize the acid present in your paper when sprayed, but I won't go into detail now. Coming back to Neenah Exact Index Cardstock White, Revain claims in the product description that the paper is acid and lignin free (although none of this is listed on the cover of the product pictured). I took the extra step of contacting Nina to clarify this issue as their website just says "no acid" and nothing about lignin, but I haven't heard from them in weeks. Nonetheless, I bought this product to try it out. I am very glad that when I received this item the cover was updated to include the description 'Acid Free'. However, there are still slight concerns as some sources state that the lack of acidity does not equate to the level of lignin. Paper can be acid-free and still contain lignin, which releases acid over time and degrades the paper. However, the lack of acid means this paper will last longer than regular paper that is not acid free. I also came across another link that says acid free paper also means the paper is lignin free as well. Finally, let's move on to other details of the paper. Neenah Exact Index Cardstock White is as smooth as it claims and it doesn't disappoint. Some prefer this smooth texture for their postcards or paper projects, while others prefer a rougher finish. it all depends on your preferences and suitability for your type of work. I bought this product specifically for making a pop up book because I needed a medium weight paper that was strong and strong enough (200-230gsm) to hold the pop up book but at the same time it had to go through my paper laser. Printers (and most printers). Before that I bought a very strong paper from Wplus9 weighing 110 pounds (it doesn't mention what kind of measurement it is). It looks very promising, but unfortunately it doesn't match my printer or any other printer I've tested, both laser and inkjet. I made a wild guess that the Wplus9 is actually a 110lb cover, which is 298gsm. No wonder it doesn't work with any printer I've tested. Speaking of printers, rest assured that paper works well with both inkjet and laser printers. While paper density isn't listed on the cover or product description, it is listed on the packaging. Brightness 94. I have compared the brightness of this paper to another paper of similar brightness and found it to be slightly yellower than the others but this is not obvious and cannot be seen without direct comparison and in bright light. Bottom line: the paper feels a little less premium compared to other more expensive whiteboards I've bought before, but given the price of this paper and the detail they've put into making it, it offers so many good qualities in one very affordable price. It still deserves 5 stars from me and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality yet economical white cardstock. I hope this review gives you some insight and helps you find the right paper for you!
