Good but brittle. First you need to get to know your hamster.

The first thing to realize is that as a single cell, it's too small for anything. Both the Crittertrail and Haustrail are modular in design and multiple cages are required to complete the cage installation. Second, these crittertrail cages for Syrian hamsters may be too small. Some Syrians can even grow quite large compared to other hamsters of their own kind. A tall, long-haired Syrian will have a hard time getting around tight corners in pipes and may get stuck. For this reason, crittertrail as a trademark should be acquired by the owner of the hamster with a critical eye and not given away or bought before the hamster is adopted. You need to make sure the tubes are big enough for your particular hamster to easily fit through. Nonetheless. I have this cage for a medium sized short haired Syrian hamster and it is doing great. I wouldn't want a bigger hamster in this cage, but after watching him closely and even intentionally making some pretty extreme pipe adjustments to see if he would get stuck, he had no problems, so the usual installing pipes in my cells don't worry about me I disconnected all my hoses and made a snake complex, put it on the floor and then took my hamster out of the cage and put him through to check. The two-story cage with two full floors instead of overhangs increases its square inch area. Between this cage, his original cage, and another smaller cage, he now has almost 500 square inches of space to roam around in, as well as lots of different satellite features that I rearrange often just to keep things interesting. This particular cage is a very good setup. and allows you to use many different mechanisms that only take up 150 square inches of space. My biggest criticism of Crittertrail in general is that their clear plastic tends to be very brittle and can break easily if carelessly taken apart. However, for the price I'm quite happy with the cage and like all crittertrail cages, if you know how to disassemble the cage properly, it can be taken apart, cleaned and reassembled fairly quickly and easily. allowed you to go to their website and build and order your own cage with all the little toys, rather than depending on whether they can find used ones or buy a brand new cage for just one with a few little features that you're used to can connect another cage.
