Review on πŸ”΄ InstallGear 16 Gauge AWG 100ft Speaker Wire | 99.9% Oxygen-Free Copper | True Spec | Soft Touch Cable | Red/Brown by David Dreher

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is probably one of the best speaker cables I've ever used.

I never thought I would write a review on speaker cable, but this thing is amazing. The jacket is very comfortable, a bit rubbery but not silky, smooth to the touch almost like suede while being VERY stretchy and light. It doesn't kink and lies perfectly flat. The wire itself seems pretty solid, when I stripped the ends of the wire I didn't notice any loose pieces. I'm not using them for an audiophile setup so I can't comment on the sound, but they work fine for my application. I will say that the only downside I found is that some types of wire strippers were difficult to remove the outer sheath. I have three strippers of different styles. The first 2 strippers didn't work, one literally slipped off the jacket, the second just tore the jacket. The last wire stripper I used worked perfectly like it was made for this wire and I was out of competition. Here's a link to a stripper I used that worked flawlessly. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WFL122J/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Pros
  • Oxygen Free Copper (OCC) - Oxygen free copper wiring offers a superior electrical conductor over aluminum because it does not expand or contract when heated and can withstand higher current loads.
Cons
  • Out of fashion
