[NOTE: This page contains reviews of various models. To be clear, I'm looking at a 6 foot, 8 outlet model that does NOT have a rotating plug. Like many people, I have many outlets throughout my home. While they all serve their purpose, some are better than others. And some are definitely worse than others. I have yet to find the perfect extension; There always seems to be at least one downside. I bought this unit for a very specific project, but the pros and cons should apply to whatever home application you are buying it for. I was looking for an extension with a large distance between the individual parts. the shops. You will be surprised, how few of these were made. It amazes me if manufacturers really ever put anything into their products when they design them. The reason is that many people use power transformers nowadays. Although these "bricks" are small, they still take up more space than a regular power plug, often making it difficult or impossible to use a nearby outlet. Because of this, I've found side-mounted power strips to be more useful than up/down power strips, but most power strips seem to do just that. Sockets on the side, I like having space around them to house those power supplies. This criterion also limits my choices as most brands tend to place outlets close to each other. After a long search I found this one from Belkin. a company I've had good luck with in the past. The outlets are not only well spaced, but also staggered, which is even better. My unique project I bought it for was building a battery charging station in my garage. The widely spaced and staggered sockets on this power strip worked really well to be able to attach 3 eneloop chargers to it, allowing me to charge up to 12 of these specialty batteries at the same time. There are enough free sockets on the strip so that I can connect a charger for standard nickel-cadmium batteries and a charger for my power tools. When I'm not using the charging station, I can, if I want, turn off the entire cradle using the main power switch on the Belkin. WHY NOT 5 STARS? disparaging for being a great product. The first is what I've seen on power strips from many companies lately (leading me to believe they're all made on the same assembly line). That is, the keyholes on the back of the strip are cut only in one direction, that is, for vertical installation of the strip with a cord coming out from below. I was going to mount it horizontally but due to the way the keyholes are made the strip could easily be knocked off the wall if you hit it. In the past most power strips were made with + shaped keyholes, so the unit could be installed in any position. Another complaint is that the keyholes these days are molded out of plastic and are not open holes, instead there is a plastic backing attached to the keyhole which means you can only use small pan head screws, eliminating the need for molly screws or similar Fastening of the strip is not required. to the wall. The other small issue is that this power strip has these little plastic slides over the sockets that are meant to keep them out of the reach of children.
