After determining our annual battery needs, we found that we used a ridiculously large number of batteries for items around the house, from window candles to fragrance diffusers, penlights, headlamps and more. For our AAA use, it's basically a couple of headlight kits used for computer repair. Even with regular batteries they last around 3-4 hours at full brightness and then slowly dim over the next 3-4 hours. The idea was to use AAA rotation to keep the brightness at maximum for the duration of the run. At the first sign of darkening, switch to a new set and keep working. The NiMH 1000mAh AAA will provide around 2 hours of full intensity and then start to fade, resulting in the need for 12 AAA batteries to handle a full charge cycle. We now have 10 of this brand plus 4 of the other brand and they work pretty much the same and provide the correct expected charge to keep my headlamp at full brightness all day long when needed. This allows me to swap them out quickly and continue working with minimal downtime. The biggest benefit is the huge amount of batteries that end up not being recycled and the cost savings over the course of a year. 5/5
