I think they work best in a teapot because they displace too much water in a cup of tea. The silicone base is 2 inches in diameter, almost the size of a coffee mug. I wish they made them in both sizes! They are amazing. I like the silicone base, I have yet to take out the bottom half of the stainless steel ball. out, he's stuck in there. I guess it has something to do with heat, cold and compression. There is a guide on how to fix the ball if the lid doesn't fit properly after a long period of use. My favorite thing is a small measuring spoon. This is just the right size scoop for measuring out the required amount of wasted leaf to make a 6 ounce cup. If we use too many leaves, the taste of the tea will deteriorate, so this little spoon really helps.
