As instructed, I used a hair dryer to try to smooth out the creases and placed a large, heavy, flat object on top of it for a couple of days (it covered the entire rug). Wrinkles are permanent. As it tends to return to its folded state due to these creases, it is very difficult to bend it into a smooth funnel shape to remove stuck debris - it quickly snaps to the creases causing the bedding to suddenly bounce and scatter.
