Review on Top-rated Elite Sports Muay Thai MMA Kickboxing Shin Guards with Instep Guard - Ultimate Protection for Adults by Jason Melvin

Secure, comfortable fit with an easy slip on

I'm 5'6", 182lbs, mid-calf, size S/M fits very well. They felt secure but not too tight. House kicks a heavy sack and is able to grope through the cushions a bit. There are other pads that offer better protection, but they're decent for their weight. I would like the padding to be increased another inch to cover all your toes as sometimes you can feel it more on the exposed part. They fit under my macho karate leg guards so when I want to hit really hard I just double up them and that gives enough protection. They are pretty easy to put on and take off. I can see them being used for grappling without being bothersome as they fit snugly on the body and are not bulky. Update: I've been using a few months at my MMA gym and they're decent for paw strikes and light sparring, but I just got the new Hayabusa Kanpeki Grappling. Shins and Hayabusa are much better. Haybusa takes a little longer to get on and off, but it's worth it. They have much better padding and an even more secure fit. However, the Elite Sports are decent for the price and something to hold off on purchasing until you can invest in better shin guards. Update: after a while they seemed to loosen up a bit because I notice that they then shift a lot more towards my lower leg. when you kick a bag of bananas. My shins are strong enough that I no longer use them for a bag. Even my good Hayabusa shields move a little when the bag is hit hard. Although they work well for sparring.

Pros
  • Easy to fit
Cons
  • Hard to tell
