Never had a TDS meter. Recently, my Pure Blue H2O four-stage reverse osmosis filter was releasing water more slowly than before. Three stages have been replaced. When ordering the 3rd stage from Revain I thought it would be a good idea to order a TDS meter at the same time. Found, ordered. As soon as the package arrived I installed this TDS meter to test the water at home. Surprisingly, the reverse osmosis water shows 30 ppm on both meters. It doesn't look like you'll need to replace Tier 3 right away. Tap water shows 352/342 ppm, 21.4/21.5 degrees Celsius, pretty close. The counters show the results very quickly, almost instantly. Now I understand how bad tap water is and the importance of having a reverse osmosis system for drinking water at home. I highly recommend this product if you have it at home.
