Cool features but fatal design flaws

I really wanted to love this kettle. In fact, he has many recommendations. WHAT'S GOOD: The temperature control is easy to use once you get used to it, and very handy for brewing green tea that requires a carefully controlled brewing temperature well below boiling point. Using a digital thermometer, I measured water heated to the advertised 180 degrees and found that the temperature displayed was fairly accurate. The keep-warm function keeps this temperature for more cups of tea. Boils water very quickly. The blue light looks cool and modern. DESIGN flaws: But upon closer inspection, I see that the design has fatal flaws. The stainless steel base, which houses the heating element, is molded into the glass teapot with a thin plastic gasket to prevent water from seeping through and down. In fact, this particular rejection method is documented in a number of comments. My suggestion to extend the life of the kettle is, after boiling the water and brewing tea or coffee, pour out all the remaining water and store dry or with residual water dripping. This minimizes the chance of water seeping onto the counter or floor. I hope this will help me extend the life of the device, maybe a year or two, after that I can order a better design. HIGH PROBLEM: At 7,000 feet where I live, the boiling point of water is around 200-202 degrees Fahrenheit. The default setting of this kettle is 212 degrees. It works wonderfully at sea level, but up here the kettle doesn't go off, even when the water boils horribly. I didn't wait to find out but I think it will keep running until it boils off, then the temperature will quickly reach 212 degrees and it will shut down. All other auto shut off kettles I have tried shut off correctly at this altitude. I can avoid this problem by simply setting the temperature control to 200 degrees, but that's not necessary for a well-designed product.
