This tool was perfect for accessing coconut water in young Thai coconuts. (White ones wrapped in cling film.) I used to aim the bottom corner of my large cleaver at a spot below the point on the coconut and try to hit the spot just enough to get a hole big enough for the straw . I ended up hacking it over and over again and missing THIS place. Scared my husband to death watching. I am now following the instructions that were sent to me after ordering the tool and I can stick the tool into what I thought was the bottom of the coconut fairly easily and once it hits the right soft spot I can easily punch a hole make one big enough for my straw. This tool is good if you don't want to access the soft coconut meat inside. Inexpensive tool, takes up little space in the box. Now I'm going to drink a lot more coconut water.
