This door hinge stopper works as intended: slide it over the top hinge and it will hold the door wide open. I installed it because I have a one year old girl who loves slamming doors. I ALWAYS forget I have it installed so it's always a surprise when I try to close the door behind me with no result. you try to close the door against the will of this hinge stop), there is an increased risk that the hinge will jump out of the door frame. This is bad for me as my little girl tries to close the door even though the doorstop is in place and I don't remember it being in place when I try to close the door behind me. I can already see micro-stress cracks on the hinge, but I can't tell if the cracks are in the paint or the wood. In any case, this hinge stopper is only good for temporary use or for doors that tend to close on their own. It is not intended for regular use in a family with wayward children and/or forgetful adults.
