I really appreciate this boom post but there are just a few things I would like to do a little better. I use this boom stand to hold the shock absorber and blue yeti mic. Sometimes the boom stand tips over due to the weight of the microphone. The opposite of this, of course, is to adjust the microphone holder so that the microphone is not too far from the center of the tripod. However, this reduces the effective height of the stand. These related problems can be solved by adding a little weight to the tripod legs, balancing the arm that supports the microphone, and adding a few inches more vertically. The barbell stand itself is very strong and easily folds into a compact and handy form. However, it's not small enough to fit in a backpack. As with all relatively heavy things with moving parts, you should be aware of which parts of the boom stand may move while being carried, otherwise you could injure yourself (especially the skin between your thumb and forefinger).
