Having a carrying case specially designed for the Sony RX100 V camera is very important for its usability. Now I have the third RX100 model and I cannot praise it. Unfortunately, because it's so durable and has a great lens cap that automatically closes the lens when the camera is off, I figured there was no need to buy a carrying case. So I put the camera in my pants pockets or put it in the side pocket of my backpack and felt like the camera was completely weatherproof. However, I have found that lint, crumbs and dust in bags and backpacks can cause problems with the automatic lens cap. I was able to clear the jam with compressed air, but I realized that's not the way to fix the camera. I then went through the process of finding a suitable case and without going into too much detail nothing really worked. Until I discovered the compact case that I am reviewing here. Nearly perfect. I write "almost" because it's a very close match. Because of this, I can't take advantage of the attractive feature of the camera body: it has little pockets for a spare battery and a couple of SD cards. Unfortunately, since my RX100 V fits snugly in the case, I can't put batteries or cards in my pockets. Hence a rating of 4, not 5. Since the batteries for the RX100 V are very short-lived, I definitely need a case to hold at least one additional battery. Maybe the case works fine on another model, but not on Model V.
