I wanted a minimalist, light weight and low profile frame for my 5DIII and it works very well. The details are well done and the cage feels very solid when assembled. At the moment I'm just using one of the mounts to mount the Small HD AC7 (via magic) and the microphone. This cage is definitely not a quick release. A hex wrench is required to attach the hot shoe. The easiest way is to attach the top and bottom plates separately and then attach the brackets. It's okay, but it's not the ideal cage if you want to quickly switch to a bare camera (e.g. for photos). The base plate is also not quite suitable for mounting the Manfrotto 501PL plate. In the future I'll probably use a 3/8" tripod screw to attach the tripod plate to the bottom of the cage and see if that helps. All in all, this is a great way to mount a monitor and microphone on the 5D3. without adding a ton of weight and still keeping the whole package small and easy to handle I used to hang everything on the camera's hot shoe and this cage is a much more durable and balanced solution.
